James T. Tran is an honors graduate of Loyola University Chicago and its prestigious Stritch School of Medicine. Jim completed neurological surgery residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center in 2001. He earned board certification in neurological surgery from the American Board of Neurological Surgery in 2005.

James then earned his JD and underwent mediation training at Brigham Young University in 2008. He is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Louisiana Eastern District Bar and Louisiana Middle District Bar, Greater Covington Bar Association, St. Tammany Parish Chapter of the Louisiana State Medical Society, American Association of Neurological Surgeons, and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He was a summer extern for the Attorney General of Louisiana in the Litigation Division, Judge Claudia Laycock of the Utah Fourth District Court, Office of Utah County Attorney, Hill Johnson & Schmutz in Provo, Utah in 2008; Moody & Moody, Stirland and Snow in Spanish Fork, Utah, in 2007. He is active with the Southeast Louisiana Legal Services and Public Defender Office in Covington, Louisiana. James focuses on medical malpractice and civil litigation.
